There are times in warm weather when a jacket is appropriate but a necktie and dress shirt are a bit more than man needs. When that's the case, try tieing a scarf in a four in hand knot and wearing it over a tee shirt under a jacket. It's a neglected warm weather look for travel, resort or casual wear, and particularly useful when the occasion can't take an ascot or neckerchief.
Scarves for summer should be lighter weight wool or even cotton toweling rather than winter cashmere or silk, particularly if it's humid.

Seeing as one rarely gets to observe scarves or ascots worn in summer, what would make an occasion appropriate for one but not the other?
That depends on where you are doesn'( it? I will wear a scarf during the day when an ascot would make me feel over-dressed. Croquet tournaments, polo matches, and other spectator sports for one,
Personally, I'm thinking of buying one of these scarves, and wearing it. I'm not sure if it'll look ok on me or what, but to be honest I don't care if ignorant people say I'm "gay"
I also think satchels are cool.
So my question, is it ok for a guy to wear a scarf in summer?
