Initially I wasn't going to admit that it's me in this photo, snapped last week by marianneme at the Art Deco Society of California's Gatsby Summer Afternoon in Oakland, California. Not only do I not normally dress "deco" intentionally, I was photographed unawares and not in the best of moods despite the beautiful day. I'd arrived at the event with three ladies and had promptly lost track of all of them. And they had the corkscrew...
After consideration I decided I like the car as a background. Boater, spectator shoes in chestnut leather and pearl suede, seersucker double breasted, blue linen shirt, madras bow tie and similar, but not matching, argyle socks. With a seat stick.
The seersucker is ready for cleaning and storage for the season now, to be replaced in the active rotation by something tweed.

Will,
Thank you for the post but if I may ask: what of us living in the deep south, we will have hot/warm weather for another 6 weeks (at least). Still put away the seersucker?
Thanks and I enjoy the blog...

I wrote about this last week.

In a nutshell, continue wearing your olive poplins, navy linen and the ubiquitous eight ounce worsteds. Put away the seersucker and cream linen for the season.
You look splendid. And the afternoon sounds like it must be a ball. Hope you found the corkscrew and accompanying ladies.
It was 91 here in Virginia yesterday and I longed for my seersucker (and spectators), but following your advice sallied forth in navy linen trousers and a very lightweight sportcoat. You were right, I survived...
If you're ever in D.C. or NYC, and hear that Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra is playing, make every effort to go. It is another event "out-of-time." (www.docscantlin.com)
Best,
Chris
Will - sartorially splendid, as always! I'm a big fan of the spectators (I've developed an addiction lately myself). However, I'm going to send you an emergency back-up corkscrew!
As for Mal's problem - dittos from Charleston!
I don't need another corkscrew so much as ladies that don't wander off. Though I might well have been the one wandering. Some of the classic cars were really nice....
You lucky devils! The weather here in the UK has turned chilly and damp for the Autumn after our summer that was...chilly and damp.
Love the shoes (correspondents as we call them here on the other side of the pond)
I covert a pair of these rather splendid shoes. Do you know of a UK supplier of R.T.W. correspondents? Much as i would love a pair of handmade shoes alas I can't afford them.
Most of the higher end machine made shoemakers will make you a pair in suede and leather. Edward Green, Gaziano and Girling, Vass in Budapest, etc.
