James Bond has a new look in the coming film Quantum of Solace.
I approve of what I've seen so far, though the shoulders on that blazer are a bit strong. The clothes seem truer to the original to me. The three piece suit Craig wore in the final scene of his first Bond film seemed made for another man.

Bond's New Look

Craig always looks well kept. Perhaps, it is the pose with arms slightly bowed that increases the strength of the shoulders? He was rather built up for the last Bond and said he was going to slim down for the upcoming feature. Maybe he hasn't slimmed, yet. Either way, a very nice subdued look. And a pocket square, to boot. Will, you must be so proud.
How do readers feel about the clearly-visible belt buckle? My personal preference is that the tip of the tie should cover the buckle and not end just above it.
The juxtaposition with Luciano Barbera is very interesting. I am sure it was intentional. The natural shoulder holds renewed interest for me.
He looks crisp and neat but not that interesting. At least he's wearing a square - he probably reads ASW!
oldworldgent - I don't mind the tie falling just above the buckle. My grandfather's tie always fell just above his belt buckle and I thought it was a neat look. I think it may depend on the wearer's height. The Duke and my grandfather were not tall men so they could get away with it, in my opinion.
If anyone is interested in the fashion of James Bond, there's an excellent, if rare book out there called Dressed to Kill: James Bond the Suited Hero that I can highly recommend.
It's a really nice overview of the evolution of Bond's wardrobe (including the horrendous 'Seventies), as inspired by research conducted by Brioni when they were the clothiers for Goldeneye. With rich illustrations from a variety of Hollywood films, it even shows some fitting sessions for Pierce Brosnan's suits with Brioni's master tailor Checchino Fonticoli.
I rather like the shoulder. I think the structured look gives some added angle and definition to his shape, making him look just that much sharper.
I think Craig looked great in "Casino Royale" and I think he looks great here. I do agree that the shoulders are a bit pointy to be Bond, but then again, I suppose even 007 is allowed to be a bit modern these days.
However, even though he looks great, he's no James Bond. He did an amazing role, but he looks nothing like Bond imho.
Pierce Brosnan is the Bond for me.
Scott, I have that book and dip into it regularly. I like the chapters by Nick Foulkes and Nick Sullivan. There are some great photos, too. How strange Bond must have appeared, in his minimalist get-up, to traditional betweeded gents in London clubland!
Is that a dollop of shirt poking out at the waist? If one is going to stick their hands in their pockets, one had better make sure trousers have a high enough waist! Alternatively, one's tie can be tied a whit longer to compensate...
You can't expect someone to be perfect, dear commentors!
His suit was designed by Tom Ford who demands strong shoulder, just for y'all to know.
Y'all should compliment the suit, though. Look at how it slims down to the waist. Look better for the cut of his physique.
Finally, yeah, the pocket square is quite something.
