Several buttons too far actually. Not content with the decoration provided by his cuff, Yann Debelle de Montby of Berluti has five buttons on his jacket sleeve, and leaves three of them open. I think this crosses the line separating venial sins from mortal ones.
Aside from the unforgiveable, his look would be fairly classic. I can forgive the silver headed cane in a man who is obviously trying too hard and his combination of blue suit, white shirt and silver tie is one of my personal favorites - I wore a navy suit and silver blue twill necktie yesterday with a shirt that had a gray twill body and white collar and cuffs.
I wonder if he has met Snoop Dogg.

I must say that this is one of the best blogs I've ever visited.
Congrats!

I am always amused by those who seek to play the role of the scruffy, unshaven, unkempt fashionista. It is as though they did not quite have time for getting dressed properly. Instead, they show too much "studied indifference" for it to be genuine, effective, or stylish. Anti-cool.
Will,
I agree, he committed a mortal fashion sin, and I believe a cane demonstrates a self absorbed attitude. In addition, I agree with your opinion of his tie. I like it!
I wonder if his shoes have zippers on them.
The buttonholes don't bother me so much as the hair. Someone fetch this guy a razor and shears! He is clearly in desperate need of a shave and a haircut.
I noticed, while watching Dirty Harry the other day, that he has his buttons undone when he makes the famous 'Do you feel lucky' speech; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YykfDFEk3y8.
Clearly, this is the only acceptable time to undo one's cuffs; when using 'the most powerful handgun in the world'.
I must agree with William and Trad. I wonder if this gentleman has the special "Don Johnson Miami Vice Trimmer" so popular in 1986. Shocking that it still works. I guess rather than pushing his sleeves up to his elbows, he is unbuttoning his cuffs to achieve the similar Sonny Crocket look in 2008.
Ha! Pageantry! At least he hasn't rolled back the turnup cuff to do poor Cocteau one better.
Do Berluti make oversize yellow shoes for their representatives?
I can only assume that he has just rolled up his sleeves and administered a sound thrashing to someone and is a bit unkempt for the effort. Perhaps it was his stylist?
