You May Not Pass That Way Again

Sometimes I want to kick myself. You see, about two years ago I spotted some Scabal tropical worsted similar to the cloth of the suit on the yachtsman in the illustration. A black, gray and white pinstripe that appeared light gray from a distance, I thought it would make a single breasted summer suit that would look great with spectator shoes. But, since that was not much of a priority at the time, I didn't acquire it.

Of course, when I thought to get it this month it was sold out. The moral of this tale is when you find yourself thinking about something repeatedly, you'd better find a way to get it. For you may not pass that way again.

I agree wholeheartedly. The number of things I've returned to get only to find them gone could fill a novel.

Not only will the item be sold out, but the salesma who showed it to you won't even remember ever having stocked such an item and might even go so far as to claim that you must have seen it elsewhere.

Will, something tell me you have enough in your closet to hold you over.....

Nice pics, Will. Really inspiring. If only people dressed like that in Newport today.

By the way, the spectators in this picture remind me of the Paul Stuart window from last night while walking home from work. They always do a nice job with their window. In any event, for those who like to wear spectators, the window dresser for PS matched a pair of light green, yellow and tan argyle socks with the 'tators in the window. Looked really nice.

Hello Will, I'm having a DB blazer made to measure and I'm thinking about the fabric. Doeskin? finding anything other than 7-8 oz. is difficult, but I think I can find a 9-10 oz fabric by pushing a bit. Do you have suggestions for the cloth? I'm not that hard on clothing, but it will see regular use.

Regards,
Chris

Mine are a 13 ounce serge and a 10 ounce fresco. You should be able to find what you need at Holland & Sherry. Look at the cloth on the web site and then email Werner Topel at topel_w@hollandandsherry.co.uk. He'll send you samples.
