Sheen

A bit of sheen adds to a look in the bright light of spring. Mohair and wool suit with a silver-blue necktie and a matte pocket square. The shoes are tan.

Sorry for the delayed post today - the photos were stuck in my camera.

Would a little color in the tie not brighten this beautiful outfit up a bit?

If the tie had more color it might not be a beautiful outfit any longer. The combination blends, and in the light it's as bright as one might wish.

Very nice Will. I like the silver tie. What type and color shoe are you wearing?

Tan cap toe oxfords.

Beautiful outfit, Will.

Nice outfit! I'm amused at the buttonholes, however; a straight-cut buttonhole in the lapel, as we expect on a well-made suit, but keyhole buttonholes in the body of the suit, usually seen in the lapel of low-cost suits. Hmmmm, interesting.

If you classify A&S as low end (it's not their suit but all of mine from that house have the same buttonholes), you're too stratospheric for me. :-)

Very CG. I like a silver-blue necktie myself and the grey of your suit is most becoming. It's not "Dove" exactly.... what is it called? Or better yet, who is the manufacturer of the cloth?

Will said...

It's a mid-blue H&S CrispAire mohair.

Will,

Very nice look...especially the play between shirt's light grey stripe and the tie.

Rip's buttonhole question left me perplexed. Do you think they have to match? Key hole buttons or straight... honestly I like how your suit has both. I know it's a fanatical point, but hand stitched buttonholes are so rare even with bespoke.

Love the tie combined with the shirt and suit... I think the square is a little bit lost though due to the closenss in color to the suit. Could a square be tasteful and complementary to the tie as well?

Will said...

The square is an example of how I'm wearing them these days. Low contrast matte silk.

Thanks Will, I have a swatch on the way. I should also have complimented you on your very subtle, good-looking shirt!

You inspired me to brighten up a little today -- wearing my sliver-blue Ben Silver tie.

A bit late to comment perhaps, but surely there is no issue with the buttonholes. The keyhole form is perfectly correct when the hole is actually there for a button, as opposed to a boutonnière (which demands a straight hole). I would assume that this coat has a 'three button roll', hence the keyhole lower down.

Dear Will,
this terrific suit is made from Crispaire
n. 333105 ?

Will said...

Yes Sergius, it is.

Thanks for your answer. I'm going to order that.
I have a suit from 333100. I suggest to you it.
It's very ductile. It's an interesting light gray with sun and a sober gray on the night.
