Oxblood Semi-Brogues

The other major stop on my quick trip to London was at WS Foster for a fitting of a pair of bespoke oxblood colored semi-brogues. These are meant for wear with navy city suits.

Foster lastmaker Simon Bolzoni is on leave to get married so I was honored to have Terry Moore, the man who trained Simon, check the shoes himself. At this stage they are just the uppers without a sole or heel but you can already see the Foster chisel toe, which may be my favorite shoe shape. And for anyone who's wondering, they have not been polished. The white punches will be filled with black polish and they'll be brought to a gleam before I see them next.

Delivery should be in about four weeks and I'm excited. But that's what happens when you're a shoe geek.

Lovely. Very nice. Have you tried an Spanish brand called Albadalejo?
They do not have a bespoke service but the look and the quality is quite high.
Congratulations again.
By the way: can you really feel the difference between those and a good pair of ready to wear?

Very distinctive looking Will. Thanks for the photo.

Will, Love that color. I am having G&G make a similar shoe in the MTO line on the TG 73 last with the smart toe. They don't have oxblood but they said Vintage cherry is a close match. How much does Foster charge for Bespoke shoes like those, how many fittings and how long does it take to get them? Could you also wear them with gray suits light and dark?

I can practically smell the shoe leather. Thanks for taking us along on your trip to London.

Nice shoes! However, I did notice your fitter could use a new pair.

How comes the fitter wears such ugly shoes?

I like those square-ended shoes! Very classy!

That was no front of the shop fop checking my fit. The other feet in the photos belong to Terry Moore, the best lastmaker in England, if not the world. He can wear whatever he wants on his feet so far as I'm concerned.
