Every man has probably had some version of the nightmare where he awakens to find himself in his boxers, surrounded by strangers. Here it is again, though I have to wonder why he slept in that hat.

Black Fleece?
Will - there is actually a tradition of dressing this way at The Wharton School at UPenn. It's called The Walnut Walk. Twice each year the graduate students there put on business attire on their upper halves and boxers on their lower, or as the saying goes "above the waist, dress for success, below the waist dress to digress." So attired a pub crawl through Philadelphia commences. Quite fun actually.

I would like it better if (a) the young men got a haircut and (b) he did not button the top button of his shirt.
I forgot to mention, recently around Newport Beach and Laguna Beach I have seen several men wearing a linen sport jacket with shorts and sandles (or boat shoes). I think it looks quite smart, at least compared to the crowds wearing tee-shirts and board shorts everywhere. Could you comment...?
Jacket and shorts? Very Bermuda if the shorts are a proper length.
And as you wrote, infinitely better than a tee shirt and board shorts unless one is actually surfing.
