Best dressed automobile at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance was this Best of Show 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta owned by Jon and Mary Shirley of Medina, Washington. One of only six privately commissioned Berlinettas, it won the first race at Watkins Glen in 1948.

Best dressed man at the event was Master of Ceremonies Ed Hermann. The actor stood out in a mustard linen suit and Optimo panama hat. There's no question about the choice in my mind as as I have the same suit and hat but I would never have thought to pair them as he did with a purple and white striped shirt and a purple necktie. Well done.

Thank you will! That’s an especially beautiful auto. Also intriguing to me that such a lovely touring car would still be competitive on the track ten years after it was built. Ed doesn’t look too shabby either. Is that a mustard linen suit? Looks bespoke. Interesting the way the tailor managed the jacket around the chest and shoulders. A bit of subtlety.
There must not have been too many men dressed appropriately for the event. I can't tell how well the shirt and tie combination works with the suit. The picture doesn't really show off the contrast. I like the hat. Almost bought an Optimo last week myself.
In my opinion both the security badge and the sunglass retaining cord distract from Ed's appearance. The badge may be required, but the cord is not.
If I didn't know any better, I'd said this man was my uncle.
