Labor Day has come and gone in the United States and that's the start of our switch from summer to fall wardrobes.
Of course, it will remain summer for a couple more weeks, and any switch to heavier fabrics should take place later in the season. This is a time to begin changing palettes instead, replacing cream, light gray and light blue with darker hues. In other words, wear warm weather clothing in navy and chocolate brown, like the suits worn in the photo by Sergio and Pier Luigi Loro Piana of the eponymous textile and luxury goods company.
Shoes should also display a darker palette. White bucks and spectators have had their run, and most tans ought to be replaced by browns and oxblood.
The temperature remains warm but autumn is in the air. The seasonal changeover begins.

It may be approaching autumn but in some parts of LA it is over 100 degrees this week. But I am thinking in the same vain that you are talking. Even looking at sweaters to wear for the autumn and fall months ahead. Can't wait for cooler weather.
Holy lapels, batman! Love the color though.
Interesting to note they're wearing double breasted suits. DB's have been down and out for many years here in Rome. Some older gentlemen are, thankfully, bringing them back ever-so-slowly. I am seeing more of them. Contrary to opinion, Romans will not wear DB's because they are so "un-British". I like them, but they're tough to wear except during the middle seasons (Autumn and Spring)or your seasonal changeover. Strangely considered for young men only.... I'd believe it, but only if younger gentlemen knew how to dress.
Just a word of warning on Loro Piana cloth: not worth the money. Most tailors here hate their cloth. It works badly, and warps in surprising places. A pity, but Loro Piana, as many other Biella cloth makers, are targeting RTW, and getting murdered by Chinese competition. Beautiful to look at, touch, and heavy on the wallet. Your tailor will frown, and you will end up with a suit that needs to be steamed every ten minutes...
I completely agree about their wool suitings. I had a length that was truly awful stuff.
Those suits are pretty badly cut as well but the colors were perfect for the post, IMO.
I don't know about this seasonal color code. We don't have this rule in Monte Carlo where I live. We do change fabrics though. We still rock the all white look and Karl Lagerfeld does all white during the year. It's a color for going out and hanging at the beach clubs and yachts.
