The photo depicts the first 21st century wearing of one of the last of my Sulka neckties, a black satin model that recently saw the light of day after many years in storage. With stores in London, Paris, New York, Chicago and San Francisco that I can recall, Sulka may have been the world's best chain of men's haberdashers before years of mismanagement finally killed it about ten years ago.
The tie is worn with a pink checked shirt, a glen check tweed suit and a Purple Label pocket square.

Great look, Will! I remember their shop in The Waldorf fondly.
I loved Sulka's ties because that diamond stitching really helped keep their shape.
Dear Will,
I recently received my shipment of shirts from MyTailor.com and I am very pleased. My initial order was basic...four 100% 2 ply cotton white button down. They feel great and look even better.
On a related idea, I have had a lingering problem over the years with my undershirts. I tend to perspire more than most despite using an antiperspirant deoderant. Unfortunately, my white undershirts usually develop a yellowish stain in the armpit area over time. My research has found that aluminum-based deoderants are responsible for this phenomenon. Consequently, I tried deoderants without an aluminum base only to find that I perspire even more. I would like to wear my button down shirts without undershirts, however, I am concerned about the risk of staining them with aluminum based products. Do you have any advice for this dilemma?
Much Obliged,

Parody, I've worn anti-perspirant from Mitchums for many years. It keeps me from perspiring, and doesn't leave a stain. YMMV.
paraody,
the aluminum is not a deodorant. it is an anti.perspirant, which is why you sweat more without the ingredient.
perhaps you sweat more because your undershirts make you warmer?
or worst comes to worst, botox.
Paraody, I have your answer: Certain Dri. Apply it AT NIGHT (before you go to bed), then, the next morning, use your regular deoderant.
On a side note: you armpits will itch like crazy the first couple of applications -- and may burn a little, a small price to pay for sweatless pits.
Currently, I apply Certain Dri every other day, finding the product works on the in-between days just as well.
The Sulka bow ties that I have in my collection are still among my favourites; beautiful quality to the silk and they tie superbly.
Nicely done Will. As always.
theparody, I use a deodorant and baking powder or Shower-to-Shower over that. Works well enough and no stains.
oh, love the LL Cooper Tweed.
