Lifestyle: Got Scotch?

Turn that last bit of Lagavulin into a Rusty Nail by adding a splash of Drambuie. Three to one is a reasonable ratio, and lemon peel is optional.

For as Houseman wrote,

"And malt does more than Milton can
To justify God's ways to man."

what a sacrilegious waste of a wonderful nip. right up there with the terrible evening in Dundee in 1995 when I ordered a Laphroaig, and a coke and was shocked when the young idiot behind the bar brought me both int he same glass

Blended scotch, yes. Single malt...only if I hated it. Otherwise, seems like a travesty.

A photo of Johnny Walker Black would not generated the same response.

During a visit to Scotland with my father, an old distillary hand had this to say about Single-Malts:

"You know, we spend countless hours, months, and years getting the water outa this stuff, but you Americans go ahead and put it right back in!"

I thought that quite humorous. Note, however, I do believe that a bit of water does properly open up some types of Scotch.

My theory--Scotch is one of those things best enjoyed just how "you" like it. If the guy next to you says otherwise, tell him to shut his trap.

I love Scotch whisky, but I love Irish whiskey even more.

As a Scot, I would say that you drink it as you see fit, especially if you are paying!

Nothing warms you up better and takes the chill off a blustery day than a great glass of Scotch. I prefer Highland or speyside. But a peaty islay, can be wonderful at the right time!

Blended-with soda water-blue label with 1/3 soda is my favourite

Single malts- neat, as intended

And as for peaty malts, Skye's Talisker 18yo is a personal favourite of mine.

But my fabourite overall whiskey of all time: Glenlivet Archive 21 year old. It tastes like the embodiment of Christmas.
