Wear Report: The Suitable Slip-on

Photo: von Span

I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks now and I have to report that the ASW Suitable Slip-ons have become my favorite casual shoe to accompany a jacket and trousers. Gaziano & Girling's MH-71 last just conforms much more closely to my foot than the elastic sided pair from another maker that I've been wearing for years (I wore one pair out and am working on their replacements), and that's the look to strive for in a shoe.

This will be the pair that are on my feet for my flight to London next week.

Will,
Did you treat the shoes with any product to retard staiing? If so, which product?

Will, any idea why my subscription to your blog no longer shows up in Google reader?

Tony, I was consolidating some services yesterday and deleted my account on a feed provider named Feedburner, as I only saw one person a day or so visiting from that source.

What I failed to realize was that people who'd used Feedburner set up an RSS feed would lose me. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bill, I didn't treat the shoes. I've never had a suede pair stain, knock on wood.

This is a better looking pair of side-gusset loafers than most, but they still look wrong to me. Why do you prefer the side-gusset over the more standard loafer configuration -- aesthetics, comfort, something else?

M., I like to have a selection of shoes for every occasion and the elastic sided slip-on is the most appropriate style with suits, in my opinion. Monks are essentially bluchers and norwegians too casual for me.

Those shoes are great!
I'm still wanting a pair, but I'm gonna have to scrounge up the cash.
