A Pennsylvania reader sent me photos of his meticulously organized closet a while ago and I thought I'd share them..jpg)
Good show! My own shirts are kept folded on shelves as I don't have the bar space to keep them hung. .jpg)
He's fortunate to have space and electricity for his trouser press in his closet. Mine are out in sitting rooms and my steamers either in a laundry or a sitting room. .jpg)
I also keep some of my shoes on the floor, though I plan to add shelves in my out of season closet this year. Shoes don't get as dusty when they have a roof over their head.
Overall, among the better clothes storage spaces that I've seen.

I am impressed...or should I say even slightly envious! The shoes, and especially I note the shoe-trees.
Though, I cannot figure out what those things are hanging under the coats next to the metal shoe trees. I imagine the metal shoe trees are for stretching tight shoes, but I can't imagine what the other two items are.
All in all very nice, very precise. Though I like closets you can dress in. They're not just for storage...
If his wife has a closet like that, then she is very lucky. Thank you for the pictures. As our kids get older and more independent, I hope to rearrange my husband's side of the closet similar to that.
Too many black shoes.
Will,
Both the gentleman's closet and its contents are enviable.
However, it seems a little odd to me that he has so many nearly identical items, especially since they don't appear to be of varying weights (although they may vary in other details).
To each his own, but I'm curious as to your opinion on this (not necessarily about his closet specifically, but about diversifying in general).
The reader should be proud of his organized closet. Too many men with nice clothes that are not well-cared for seems to be the rule, not the exception.
The only horror in the pictures was the wire hangers used for the shirts. OUCH! Plastic tubular hangers are available for about $0.10 each and will help protect the shape and extend the life of one's shirts. I threw away my wire hangers the moment I got home after seeing "Mommie Dearest".
I suspect that this particular gentleman does the same as me. I hang up my shirts as soon as I get them home from the cleaners. I don't fuss with changing each and every single hanger before I hang them up. When the time comes to wear a shirt, I take the shirt off the hanger and throw it away.
This closet is a work of art.
