The other day brought a box from Chicago's Optimo Hat Company containing a new straw for the coming season. And though the traditional start of that season is still weeks away, the Bay area's recent 85 degree (F) days (30 degrees C) provided ample justification for wearing the pictured straw-colored Milan.
By the way, the name is pronounced as if it were spelled Mylen, with the accent on the first syllable.

Love the hat, Will. I can't wait to wear my Panamas. By the way, is that a Drakes Churchill Dot you're sporting?
Yes it is.
Very nice! Your pic just convinced me to pull the trigger on one.
Is it normal to wear a button-down shirt with a suit?

If you are referring to my shirt, it has a tab collar and not a button down.
Most men consider button-down collars too informal to wear with double breasted suits.
Which books do you recommend on gentlemen's clothing? I've been trying to find out on your blog, but can't really find anything (or maybe I'm just looking the wrong places)?

There's a list here:

Thanks for the link.

Apart from the superfine, super expensive jobs, what do you think of the Monte Christi hats from Lock?
As is unfortunately true for most of Lock's men's hats, better quality is generally available for two-thirds the price.
Look at Brent Black's offerings, or buy from Ultimo in Chicago.
