Grounds of ivory or white combined with spring colors such as lime, lilac, sky blue or fuchsia are sunny day neckties. Whether foulards, dots or stripes, in combinations of linen, cotton and silk, sunny day neckties are meant for the lighter colored suits and less structured jackets of the season.
In the photo, a purple and ivory block striped necktie is worn for the first time in 2009. It combines with a light blue end on end shirt with white collar and cuffs, white linen square, a navy semi-solid mid-weight worsted suit and oxblood strap and buckle shoes.

Hello Will, I'm big fan of your blog. Sensible style, great advice. Thanks. Your knowledge and hard work are inspirational and I must admit that I'm being influenced by this blog. To the matter, I have noticed that you tend to wear peaked lapels with DB jackets. What is your opinion of a navy SB suit with peaked lapels?

I like it too.
And I must admit that I prefer this dark blue, small white dots silk handkerchief to the red, big white dots Cary Grant wore in "To catch a thief".
(I don´t think Madras flat caps will be a sucess this summer, fortunately)
I find it very hard to square the phrase "Hackett is the home of authentic British style..." with the Madras-checked disaster that you highlight.
For the record, may I state that in 47 years of residence I have never, ever, under any circumstances, seen a British man (even in the 1970s) dressed in such an appalling ensemble.
I read this post yesterday and decided I would wear a spring-ish tie the next day, today. Woke up to rain, it changed to snow with less than 1/2 mile visability. All was melted by 4:00 pm. Gee, what might happen if I wore something truly summer?

I like the points of my DB lapels much much sharper than this.The art of doing that lies with few tailors
To my taste this is still winter look .I imagine a typical summer look in much lighter /flashy colors .
