Wandering Waikiki

Spent the day walking around Waikiki with a friend who inadvertantly took digital movies instead of photos, leaving little to choose from for today's post. But we did browse some interesting shopping that I will try and re-photograph before we leave for the relative quiet of Kahala, including a very nice straw hat and Hawaiian shirt store named Nate's in The Royal Hawaiian hotel.

Linen safari jacket over brown linen trousers, both of 14 ounce cloth, worn with a navy linen shirt and unlined brown spectator slip-ons.

Ah, the Royal Hawaiian. What a great hotel--and so pink! Did you sip mai tais in the Mai Tai Bar? Though when it comes down to it, the Mai Tai Bar is only #2 on my list of Waikiki beach front bars: #1 is the House Without a Key in the Halekulani. That's because I think the view is better, and the ambiance a bit more--well, refined (which is not to say that the Mai Tai Bar's is bad). Plus Kanoe Miller (one of the hula dancers at the House WIthout a Key and a former Miss Hawaii) is as charming and gracious as can be.

P.S.: Great safari jacket!

I hope you'll have the opportunity to spend a leisurely sunset there.

Nice overshirt. I've been waiting on mine since Autumn. I'm hoping it arrives before Summer officially arrives.
