Suits and Socks, Installment XV

After a couple months of polishing with oxblood wax these burgundy Gaziano & Girling Carnegies are darkening just as intended. They are a much deeper shade than they were when they arrived in February.

Nothing wrong with burgundy I suppose but to my eye a deep maroon looks better with navy, brown or tan.

Worn with tan and brown herringbone hose and a tan-with-red-undertones Solaro suit that has its own herringbone in a different scale.

My saddle was colored the same way, takes patience and an even hand. Love the color of the leather when a new saddle arrives but it is not practical.

These shoes look as magnificent as any shoe could, such a shame their job is to mmake contact with pavement!

Those socks are so much more subdued than what you usually wear... wait a minute! Who are you and what have you done with Will?

Seriously, it's a nice look--very classy. The shoes have a beautiful sheen. I wonder, though: why did you order them in burgundy and then darken them with polish? Why not order them in oxblood to start with?

Yes, the socks are so subdued I might well have named the post something other than I did.

Burgundy is the darkest color in the red family that is available from G&G in calf. So I had no choice.

Burgundy wax? What cave have I been living in? I have some dark brown shoes that I would love even more if I could give them a tinge of red.. where can one procure wax of colors besides black and brown? I suppose a Google search would tell me, but if I ask here, then I stand a far better chance of getting a quality recommendation!

Lincoln Red (Oxblood) is what is on those shoes Arctic.

Beautiful shoes, but beige pants on beige socks? I'm shocked.
