Better and Better

For those who have yet to notice, the lads at Gaziano & Girling continue to impress with beautifully shaped models in classic designs. Above, the Woburn blucher brogue.

The Burlington (also available with a heel counter as the Kensington) is a new G&G oxford. Customer response, particularly from Japan, has kept the company's order book full despite weak economies in the United States and Western Europe.

And the shoes just keep getting better and better.

Beautiful shoes. I look forward to the day that I can afford them!

Will, I believe you have called Gaziano & Girling the best bench-made shoes available. Could you be so kind as to explain what you mean by bench made?

Also, of the two American dress show makers left, you have mentioned Alden but not, to my memory, Allen Edmonds. Any thoughts about the latter?

Bench-made. Not bespoke but not made in a high volume factory either.

Nothing wrong with AE. Nothing special about them though, and I like to spend my time with things that are special to the extent possible.
