One of the more persistent clothing myths is that double breasted jackets constantly require buttoning and unbuttoning. The truth is that a properly fitted jacket never needs to be unbuttoned during wear, as the late William Powell demonstrates to Jean Harlow, film's first platinum-haired bombshell.
Keep them buttoned.

Keep Them Buttoned

I agree. One reason I was never a big fan of DB suits or jackets was the fact that people would never button them. I would see alot of jackets flapping in the breeze. Keeping them buttoned is the best way to go. Also in cool weather they provide more warmth than a SB suit.
Jean Harlow- va va voom!
What gams...
I don't watch much Letterman but when I do I grit my teeth because of his habit of just buttoning the keeper during the monolog.
Not funny.
what a nice suit, i imagine it to be gray. the shoulders reminds me of will's suits.
Shame that this needs repeating. Too bad David Letterman's associated with the DB jacket and wearing it so badly.
I'd like to button myself to Jean Harlow.
Does this mean never unbutton a jacket when you sit down?
William Powell could have been wearing a leisure suit in that scene and I wouldn't have cared.
It's Jean's legs that have my attention. :-)
I notice he has both buttons done up... Is this correct?
HRH Prince Charles buttons both of his always.
