Whether done the night before or first thing in the morning, modelling the day's clothing can help a man visualize how his ensemble will look to others before he gets dressed. A doorknob and a suit hanger are all that is required.
It may be easiest to put the suit or jacket and trousers out first. This can also be a good time to place the trousers in a press while choosing shoes, shirt, tie and pocket square. Then all that is left is some experimentation with the elements.
In the photograph, I was seeking a combination to coordinate with the burgundy square I showed yesterday. The blue grenadine necktie provided a contrasting texture and I felt ready to meet the day.

I normally go first for my shirt, then the suit, tie, cuff links, pocket square and finally the most important thing: the shoes
the tie and handky don't really match, but i don't really know how that works.
i have my doubts about the shoes, they're very casual.
but everything pictured is beautiful.
Nice. The trees suggest to me the shoes are G&G. What do they call that model (or are they EG Kibworth) and suede color, assuming I am right they are suede? Pardon me if you already mentioned these on a previous post and expalined them already.
Ah yes, the magnificent side-gusseted shoe. Where is the striped grenadine tie from? I've never seen one before.
Funny...I can't seem to wear the jacket without a pocket square anymore. Feels like something is missing. It goes without saying that one shouldn't try to match the square to the tie. Better a color, pattern and texture that contrasts with the rest of the clothes.
A clothes valet is also very useful to assemble your day's outfit. If you have the space, two are even better. One to air out the clothes you wore during the day before going back into the closet. The other valet for the next day.
Good tip Will and one I follow as part of my evening routine. Then in the morning I can brush out the prior days suit a bit of steam and a return to the closet then the days suit is taken off and allowed to hang.
I have a question, have you found a home press that is worth its salt. I normally have my laundry press my suit trousers when necessary but that requires greater planning.
Cheers,
Carl
