From a few feet away, it looks run of the mill. For a brown three piece suit anyway. Perhaps a larger check than is commonly seen.
Upon closer examination, the cloth is definitely an unusually large check. And the single breasted jacket is worn over a shawl lapelled double breasted vest. That is country cloth with city detailing, a favorite of the Apparel Arts crowd in the 1930s.
Worn with dark oak Edward Green brogues, a DJA royal oxford shirt from MyTailor.com, and a printed silk square and navy with white dot bow tie by Cravate Royale.

I am tempted to comment on the choice of the pindot bow, and the pale, pale shirt, but I will admit my sophistication level may need need refilling some time.

After three decades as a cinema stylist, please allow that the ensemble strikes me as more getup than outfit, a costume one might find on, say, George Sanders in some ersatz English drawing room. The tipoff? Why it's that shawl-collared vest, an Adolph Menjouish touch that craves the wrong kind of attention. As my late father, Michael Wilding, used to say: "If you can admire a man's clothes and then, 20 minutes later, be hard-pressed to recall them exactly, that gentlemen was most assuredly well-dressed.
I wish people would wear more db waistcoats. Also, contrary to to some of the comments here, I think that tie is the perfect choice.
A creatively interesting combination, great for a sophisticated country club lunch or afternoon tea; on the scale from gentleman to dandy it is nudging towards the latter. I agree with Wayne Wilding and especially with his late father, but would add that for the sartorially experienced observer this outfit's 'faux pas' is probably not of the sort that would haunt one's memory for too long.
Wayne's comments are of great value, and I think we should take them to heart. On the other hand, most people are not aware enough of clothes to remember what anyone is wearing, with the possible exception of the witticism written on someone's ballcap or T-shirt.
I hope Will continues to quietly dazzle us with his inspired clothing.
