It is personal taste rather than the product of some argument about correctness but I really like shirt jackets for knocking around. There's a little less weight on my shoulders and I stand out a bit less at the grocery store, but I still have pockets and a covered waist. The pockets are a big advantage over a cardigan sweater.
Shirt jackets are comprised principally of straight seams and are usually made cost-effectively at a shirtmaker rather than a tiaior. The version in the photo was sewn by MyTailor from unlined 14 ounce/420 gram Scabal linen. It is worn with a DJA royal oxford cloth shirt, a Cravate Royale ascot, twill trousers and G&G monkstraps that have been darkened with black polish over time.

Love the shirt jac but I'm less sure of the "under" shirt sleeves exposed so much.
How would they look folded up with the over shirt?
Another great look. You have combined two of my favorite combinations--pink and navy, and pink and gray--in one simple yet classy outfit.
The monkstraps look great, too. What was their original color?
The idea is good but this jacket (in the Uk a "Decorators Jacket" needs less formal trousers and shoes. Its a kind of bohemian style
Don't think it matters much what the shirt jac needs, just grab and go. Shirt jac has been seen on this man with moleskin trousers and "Norwegian" shoes as well.
Shirt jackets are one of my favorite looks. Casually dressed, comfortably elegant. I do like a drapier pant with them though, but the beauty is in their chameleon-like attitude in going with jeans to linen to wool. And pink and grey? The best.
