It was truly cold on the coast the other morning and, with cool weather predicted for the City in the afternoon, appeared to be an opportunity to haul out the first tweed of the season. Fortunately, I chose the second-lightest jacket in my wardrobe instead of something heavier and so managed to barely avoid death from heat prostration. As a society we need to do something about inaccurate weather forecasts (forecasters?) for this was truly a tweed worn too soon.
If a premature eagerness to return to cool weather clothing identifies a weakness in my wardrobe, it is because we wear mid-weight clothing for most of the year here, especially in summerless years like the current one. In some climates one moves from the light stuff of summer to mid-weights and then on to heavier things, experiencing a bit of a change along the way. Not here. It is a weakness I am not certain how to address, but one soldiers on.

Tailor?
Will, your smile gets wider when you know you've nailed it. A gown and mortarboard couldn't make you look more academic.
The square pulls up the color of the shoes and the tie complements the trousers perfectly. And that jacket - oh my.
That is one "hot" outfit.
After a quick Google search, I see this posting is already the second listed for the search terms "crescent pockets on tweed." The first is a post describing a suit worn by the Duke of Windsor. How did you decide to use crescent pockets? Did the suit worn by the Duke inspire you?
The tailor was Davies & Son and yes, the crescent pockets are an idea lifted from the late Duke.
The riding length jacket? Is that a slightly shorter jacket than normal? Is your bow tie a batwing? I love the color of your tweed.
Riding coats are a little longer than normal and the tie is a batwing with a pointed end. The tweed, alas, is no longer available.
Damnit, I love that tie. I emailed you about them recently. I may have to lay down the scratch and put in an order soon.
Best,
Will
Greetings from Melbourne.
Will, I have always had the highest regard for your innate sense of taste and style particularly when you're in a suit, however, the sportscoat and bow tie combo is as good as it gets! Absolutely stunning!! Let's see some more of your tweeds. Cheerio for now.
Pulled the trigger on the tie; just couldn't resist it any longer. I hope it looks as nice in person as it does on the site.
