OPTIMO HAT COMPANY from samuel j macon on Vimeo.
As a customer I submit that Chicago's Optimo Hat Company is probably the best hatter in America, if not the world.

Love the hats, I was in Chicago last month and didn't get a chance to go to the factory to get a hat. I will contact them and try to figure out which style suits me best. I also like the Button down collar he was wearing. The collar really was sharp looking.
I join your endorsement that Optimo are one of the best hatmakers.
Its hats are superior to Lock and Borsalino.
Will, I visited with Graham of Optimo this weekend, getting in an order for a brown derby with a properly stiffened crown.
I popped in Lock & Co. over the summer during my honeymoon, and while I respect their legacy, I'm afraid the hats cannot compete with what Optimo turns out. I understand Borsalino has really slid too.
I find it difficult to visit Optimo without buying a hat, which makes picking up completed orders rather dangerous. I'm considering a "Rush Street" in lightweight felt for delivery early spring.

Chicago may have Optimo but Cincinnati has Gus Miller at Batsake Hat shop. Gus is an artisan and his small shop is worth a visit when in Cincinnati. See the link for the full story.
