Slowly Degrading Blogging Capabilities

It is simply another tough day for blog writers who are spending the week in Italy. The zuppa de mare is great, the women distracting and the hotel's WIFI infuriatingly inoperable, though never quite so much that one would not have to pay for the service (if anyone in authoriy is reading I should also report that the Italian anti-terrorism act appears in reality to be an attempt by Italian wives to catch their spouses in flagrante delicto or something as I was able to access email directly from a different hotel than the one that claimed my technical difficulties were a legal mandate). But as these things so often happen, that same hotel is making it difficult for me to post, so today's does not have the depth of illustration I had worked towards.

Milan is a great shopping city, with more variety than San Francisco, a place with an urban poulation that is six to seven times larger and had the additional recent benefit of being the center of one of the great wealth creation decades in the history of the planet (that being the run-up to Y2K and the related but different internet boom generally). And a-shopping we did go.

If there is one thing to take away from the Milanese experience other than the photo of the slowly degrading statuary at the entrance to one of the city's better private clubs, it is that 70% of the neckties in the Kiton store are wool and cashmere. Wool and cashmere mind you, not silk. We can - and should - learn from this while the opportunity presents itself.
