The colors of the season change as warm weather begins to replace cold next month. Charcoal and navy will turn to khaki and white as the gentleman's burgundy, bottle green and gold accents are replaced by the palette of the garden.
Summer means light gray suits for business sometimes worn with white shoes. Mustard linen versions take their place on casual occasions, complemented by summer scarves. And there are cream gabardine jackets for evenings, with gardenias in their buttonholes.
Are you ready for summer? I am.

What a charming photo! Thank you, Will.
Puts me in mind of the Cottingley Fairies –

Well, I don't know about the white shoes, but definitely lighter gray suits are already coming out...
Hope you've got them in flannel because the cold has finished with us yet.
Speaking of shoes, what color shoes are appropriate to wear with whites, tans, and creams?
Thank you for your great and informative site; as a 20-something learning to dress like a man, it has become something of a bible to me.

Shoes? White, cream, tan through chestnut and combination of those.
Will, I fully expect a spring picture of you with Mr. Bluebird on your shoulder!
Although I realize that Allen-Edmonds shoes are not up to your standards for footwear, I did notice that they are offering two spectators in leather and linen: the Carlsbad penny loafer and the Strawfut oxford. They look like the best options for such shoes out there for those of us who cannot afford bespoke.
And yes, I'm ready for summer, too, with a new pair of white brogues just waiting for Memorial Day to make their debut.
Horatio, I have several Allen Edmonds, and find them to be quite well made and long lasting. Considering their price, they are well worth the money.
Careful, bespoke is often better, but not always. And with bespoke, the client must be very well researched, documented and financially prepared to undergo a few disappointments whether they're suits, shirts, and especially shoes.
That's part of the learning process between client and tailor, cordwainer, and shirt maker.
So enjoy your AE's and keep them polished like a mirror. The older they get the better they look.
