Steve McQueen in the original version of The Thomas Crown Affair looks pretty darned good in the black and white photo. But try him again in color.
Blue sunglasses, blue shirt, blue tie and, perhaps worst of all, blue gloves tire the eye. Plain dark sunglass lenses, an ecru shirt and brown gloves would have made for a more interesting ensemble.
Do not over-coordinate.

I think Blue was the signature the producers were going for, although I agree about it needing different color. Even so, McQueen is still t he king of cool!
The blue gloves and sunglasses are what really push this ensemble over the top.
I fail to grasp the appeal of blue sunglass lenses. I have never seen anyone, man or woman, who looked good wearing them.
I think we can blame the movie makers, and not Mr. McQueen, for the over-coordination.
Blue lenses might be OK on blue-eyed people. But even then, regular colors are probably better.
Aw somebody else dressed him for sure. Otherwise he'd be in a 'tee'shirt and jeans. Heck, I got a big complement from my wife this morning and I had on Levi's Carpenter jeans!
