There are still cool days even at the end of the season, and André Churchwell has not yet put away his rope striped double breasted. Pin stripes are the default for worsteds, but the more prominent pattern has better proportions for the taller man.
The strength of the stripe is complemented by Dr. Churchwell's choice of muted accessories: white shirt, light gray necktie, patterned silk pocket square and black cap toed oxfords.

Could you do a stripe discussion in a future post? I have always thought those to be pencil stripes, with pin stripes being the thinnest, pencil stripes being more bold, and chalk stripes being fuzzier and better suited to flannel.

Hi Will, regarding the double breasted, I am tall,6'3" but pretty round,48" waist, is the double breasted out of the question? Thanks

He looks great of course. The stripes are the tiniest bit bold for my taste but that's irrelevant. Striped suits in blue or grey are top of my pops. If you want to look like a Duke it's hard to beat the DB chalk stripe in flannel or worsted.
Bob, I think DBs are better than single breasteds as the front of the coat closes better over some girth.
I think single- breasted jackets look better than double-breasted jackets on heavy guys, even if both are equally well tailored. The extra buttons attract attention to the waist in my opinion.
