Most essential summer kit can, indeed should, be worn together at times, which makes the photographer's job simpler:
-Tan linen double breasted jacket
-Black silk knit necktie with white dots
-White dress shirt
-White cotton ducks
-Unlined white bucks with red rubber soles
-Panama hat
There are a few more items needed to make up the ten that comprise all modern lists of essentials of course, but fortunately they complement the jacket as well.
-Pale gray fresco trousers
-Khaki colored Ghurkha shorts
-White polo shirt
-Lightweight brown Norwegian slipons
Should anyone be in need of an eleventh item I will submit a tan linen safari jacket.
Pack the extras in a duffel with toilet kit, socks, underwear, bathing suit, an extra white shirt and a supply of white linen handkerchiefs and you are good to go.

Could you please explain the white ducks? I have seen them in some men's stores and know they are cotton pants, but how are they different than khaki cotton pants? Are they better for warm climates (e.g. Georgia)?
Any recommendations for a good Panama stockist Will?Heading to Monaco/Cannes/Nice soon on vacation and want one for the trip.
Thanks,
Craig
I always try to be open in matters apparel, but in the case of khaki Gurkha shorts I'd have to be either drunk or being dressed by a funeral home assistant.
A question about the shoes though: the rubber soles seem odd when leather is so much favoured otherwise, and quite hot too. Is it traditional for these shoes to have the rubber soles?
As as follow-up to Roger's question, what does 'unlined' mean?
Re the bucks, unlined shoes have no lining inside the upper and so wear cooler. The soles are traditional.
White ducks can be cotton but the real things are cotton canvas.
For the hat Craig it depends on where you are located.
So does the cotton canvas wear cooler?
Coastal England is not particulalr warm and neither ic cNvas. Trousers on the other hand don't wear particularly hot.
Got my Panama hat, the rollable Optimo, in Hawaii last week at Newt's. Thanks for the tip Will.
For straw hats, I have been pleased with the hats I have gotten from Bailey and Miller. The majority of both brands' hats are made in America, and are an affordable option for those men who would like to dip their toes in the water with a straw hat and aren't ready to go all out on a Montecristi just yet.
In the same vein, if you see a straw hat as a not-so-long-lasting item (as I do—2 or 3 seasons tops), then an affordable option makes more sense, too.
Just my post hoc rationalization I suspect, and my usual method and manner of explaining to She who makes the plans, but the literature provided with the hat says the "Montecristi Sombrero from Ecuador can last from generation to generation with proper care and handling."
As a preface, Will knows how highly I regard his advice and observations. I do, however, think the gurkha style should be left to the regiment to wear and the rest of us should go with a good pair of tan poplin shorts or linen shorts. I get mine from the Englsh Sports Shop on Front St. in Bermuda and Murray's Toggery on Nantucket where proper white sailing ducks can be had.
The "black" tie in the picture looks like navy or midnight blue to me. Or maybe my screen colors are not correct. Anyway I think dark blue looks better than black in this outfit.
