I think it must be a British hang-up of mine but I struggle with slip-on shoes.
There was a scene in the film "Up In The Air" where George Clooney demonstrated the quick way through airline security with his slip-on shoes where I gasped and though "oh dear".
The side buckle is about as far as I will go. Slip-ons seem so slack.
Not a Brit thing. I was born and bred in the home counties and have no problem with loafers or any other type of shoe without laces.
