The difference between dressed and well dressed is often the finishing touches, in my opinion. Every man wears polos, trousers and shoes. Too few top the polo off with a square, like the man in the illustration. Hats, scarves and gloves join neckwear as the most often overlooked accessories.
Remember your accessories.

I rejoice, on a late summer´s day like this, to be out in the Leiden, Netherlands area with my dog and to encounter several (usually somewhat older) men in polo´s donning the knotted kerchief. Sadly though, the majrity of them top (or rather base) it off with entirely inappropriate shorts (which are for schoolboys) and sandals or flip flops (both of which are an abomination).
You can't beat scarves worn with any type of jacket from the safari to the chalkstripe and regardless of whether you're wearing a necktie or open necked shirt. The perfect season for them approaches.
