Jeweler Trianon has a new website, and it is a fine place to browse, if not to shop since shopping is not enabled. Trianon of course is the sister company of Seaman Schepps of New York and its offerings are sold at that company's locations in Manhattan, Nantucket and Palm Beach as well as Bergdorf Goodman in New York and Arnys in Paris.
Trianon's specialty is jewelry in unusual combinations of precious and exotic materials, like the cufflinks of cowrie shell and 18kt gold at the left in the top photograph and another of my favorites, the links of bamboo and gold to the right in the bottom photo.
Cufflinks and dress sets are priced from $1,000 to $15,000.

They're outstanding but a thousand dollars for a set of cufflinks? Goodness!
Men's jewelry is dangerous turf-- and cufflinks perhaps the most contentious of all. On one hand; the cufflink haters (No cufflinks!) -- on the other; those who would wear these exquisite Trianon (much like Verdura) works of art, and carry it off.
It has been said that if your cufflinks draw comments, they're too showy. (Novelty cufflinks are flat-out trashy.)
Boring, but beyond reproach: Simple solid 18K gold oval with monogram or crest. Or sterling which seems slightly more casual.
Personally, I'd steer clear of any facetted (glittery) gemstone bling.
And finally-- Cufflinks DO have a purpose beyond holding double cuffs together. They instantly communicate a specific level of taste, class, and style --No matter what that may be.
Can't wait to see your collection!
