Adding Variety
An odd vest adds variety to a suit on days when a man can show a little more flair than he might normally. Linen is my favorite cloth for spring and fall waistcoatings, and cashmere, challis, and tattersall, like the vest in the photo, for winter.
In the photo, a gray flannel suit (the experienced eye will know the maker by the button point) worn with a striped twill shirt, a knitted cashmere necktie, silk square, cordovan boots and the aforementioned cream tattersall vest.

I have to say, Will, that this is a fabulous combo. It's the vest that does it for me. Boot maker?
What a wonderful combination. I can see that a modest collection of vests is going to be in my future, after I build up a better range of suits and odd jacket/trouser combinations. How do you feel about the use of knitted vests in the same fashion?
Amazing!!!
I love it. Very nice mix of clothes.
My congrats.
Best regards
EA
That outfit is simply stunning. I never would have thought that a checked waistcoat would go superbly the rest of the ensemble, but it is just absolutely stunning. It is times like this I could find waistcoats in my size in colors other than grey, navy, and black. BTW, based on the buttoning point, you flannel suit from your post in NY last week, and the shoulders, I am going to guess that is A and S or from a tailor who used to work there and uses a similar style.
G and G; got it!
