The Ubiquitous Blazer

It is probably only coincidence but I have been seeing a lot more blazers this year. In the photos, two blazer-clad members of Vanity Fair's best-dressed list demonstrate how they wear it.

H.S.H. Prince Heinrich von und zu Fürstenberg, to the left in the top photo, pairs his gold buttoned version with a semi-solid necktie and light gray trousers.

As does Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter.

The ubiquitous, and easy to wear, blazer. Just add a blue or gray necktie.

It seems that all it takes to get on any best dressed list these days is to wear a tie and Jacket. There is a very fine line between well dressed and best dressed. Will you are certainly on my BEST DRESSED list!

Both look rather dull wouldn't you say: in comparison to the relaxed and urbane, if somewhat pensive Duke in the previous post?

^Totally agree, chaps - what a shambles - all over the place. What a lousy age we live in! My father dresses better than they - and my grandfather would have made them look like a pair of cab drivers on holiday.

Look more closely! Surely it is the pocket squares that put them on the list.

It actually makes my blood boil that people whose clothes make them look like sacks of potatoes (and oddly self-satisfied with it too), are held up as 'official' style icons. What then might we expect of the Great Unwashed?

Would have loved to have made up a hopsack black DB with gold buttons this year for myself this year, but one shouldn't get high on ones own supply.
