Cool Weather Textures

Worsteds may be the stuff of dressing for business, but woolens (tweed or flannel) are the cloth for less formal cool weather pursuits. They may be more colorful and patterned but they also may not, and in that case their attractiveness comes from their greater surface interest.

That surface interest is best complemented by more of the same, in my opinion. Shirts of chambray, royal oxford and oxford cloth, for example, and wool or cashmere neckties next to madder silk squares.

In the photo, a flannel jacket is paired with a light blue chambray shirt, a striped cashmere necktie and a paisley silk square in keeping with the season.

Will, this is one of your best combinations. I love it. Wonderful! Entices me to pledge a re-run of that wonderful cloth at the LL. Cheers!

I've never thought of a suit as "comfy", but this is a combo I think I'd like to wrap myself in and take a nap. I love it, especially on a cold, wet day like today.

Is this the jacket from post about suit jackets worn as an odd-jacket? Are you wearing the entire suit in this photo?

The pattern matching between sleeve and shoulder is astonishingly good. The entire piece has a nice solid look about it.

Who is the tailor for the jacket?

I love the color, pattern, and material of that jacket. It does say "suit" to me, but I think it might work with navy trousers, too (even though I know you don't care for navy trousers, I find they go well with gray and blue jackets).

Another inspiring combination.

Prudent advice, as always.
