Nice reminiscences. I like his quiet demeanour. My older brother still has a shop like that. He apprenticed to an old barber at 16 and he now runs that shop, essentially unchanged except for some minor technological advancement...and a Wurlitzer jukebox. It doesn't make a lot of money, but it's a good social gathering place with a steady core clientèle.

Excuse me if I go off and have a quiet sniffle by myself. That's exactly the kind of barber my grandfather was and that shop was much like his.
