He lives on the 36th parallel, so André Churchwell's Nashville temperatures improve before those of most ASW readers. Last week found him enjoying an early spring and looking quite the boulevardier in his odd jacket, trousers and hat.
The thing I like best about this particular look is that it is really quite coordinated - both his shirt and his necktie complement one or another part of his jacket's pattern - without appearing as though he tried too hard. To be well dressed a man ideally looks as though he has spent no time choosing his clothes, even though the process may actually have required a considerable amount of time.

any idea what the cloth is in the sportsjacket? A
Without questioning Mr. Churchwell, I disagree with Will's analysis. The look is a good one, but appears at though quite a lot of thought was put into it--the tie, flower, and windowpane are a little too coordinated. It reminds me of Steve McQueen in the Thomas Crown Affair.
Yet, I like it.
Agree with CDC. It does look more deliberate than it's probably meant to. This might be because to most eyes it will always appear anachronistic, since Churchwell always gives off a 30s/40s vibe.
The odd jacket is fantastic.
I think such a loud pattern calls for this kind of coordination. Well done.

A gentleman wearing a hat indoors strikes a discordant note. Wearing a hat? Step outside to be photographed.
Well, let me just jump in to say that I agree with Will's take. When someone really does look deliberately over-coordinated, it gives off a completely different effect (like a ballroom dancer about to do a tango or salsa number).
Obviously, to some extent even owning such a jacket shows that the man cares about his clothes, and on some level has put serious thought into building his wardrobe. But the way the components are thrown together here does not make it seem like they're all part of one carefully constructed outfit; it's just that these harmonious elements, brought together, make for a great outfit. I think that's the point.
The Doc as usual looks great but give me a break...he took a little time putting this together. How much time is hard to tell since experience speeds up the process of selection, but time he did take.
