I have read several times, from different sources, that yellow is not an appropiate colour for a gentleman.

At least, a colour not suitable for shirts or ties (I have even read that only cuckholded husbands wore yellow ties; Ridiculous, isn´t it?)

What do you think about yellow?

In addition to the book, A Family Album, I just purchased Wallis & Edward DVD. I had no idea it existed until recently. I watched Edward & Mrs. Simpson and thought is was excellent but this is a new one for me.

I have a larger version of that photo in a book on the Royal Family. It's worth noting that the Duke is wearing yellow cords, brown jacket with yellow overstripe, and matching shirt and tie (tie cut on the bias) made of a yellow, black, and white check pattern. Lots of yellow. Echoing John, it's outrageous and the Duke does it well.

It's funny, if Joe Schmo wore that, I'd agree with you. But on the Duke, with his personality, it somehow is fun and playful and ok -at least to me it is.
